This Christmas double your charity donations with UK Aid Match…

Many people like to give to charity at Christmas time but it is important to look at how you can maximise your donations. Until the end of February, the UK Government will match your contribution to select charities. So if you donate £10 the charity gets £20. It is a successful scheme that has been running for the past few years and is a bit of a no-brainer for your donations.

The eligible Charities in the current round are:

· AfriKids #TimeToShine appeal: Improving access to quality education and increasing learning outcomes for children in 80 poor rural schools in Ghana.
· Elton John AIDS Foundation #AIDSFree appeal: Supporting those in Mozambique and Kenya who are stigmatised by society because they are living with or at high risk of HIV and provide them with the means to prevent infection, to access medicine and carry on with their lives.
· Mary’s Meals #DoubleTheLove appeal: Improving access, participation and progression in education for 81,163 vulnerable children in eastern Zambia.
· Practical Action #BeAChangeMaker appeal: Helping farmers in Zimbabwe beat the effects of climate change
· Street Child #CountMeIn appeal : Increasing access, quality and inclusion in basic education for the most vulnerable children in northern Sierra Leone.
· Village Water’s #SafeWaterAndSanitationForAll appeal: Improving health and well-being for peri-urban communities through a reduction in waterborne diseases in Zambia, Mozambique.
· War Child’s #LearnToLive appeal: Support vulnerable children who have experienced the trauma of war to build a brighter future for themselves in Central African Republic.
All worthy recipients of your cash.

We are reader supported. Donate to keep Slugger lit!

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported. Help us keep Slugger independent by becoming a friend of Slugger. While we run a tight ship and no one gets paid to write, we need money to help us cover our costs.

If you like what we do, we are asking you to consider giving a monthly donation of any amount, or you can give a one-off donation. Any amount is appreciated.
