October 05, 2005 Far right 'imagination'... A FAR-right group linked to Combat 18 seems to have taken the inspiration for its name from the alphabet soup of loyalist paramilitarism. Note to CAIN: You need to update this page. Combat 18 hasn't existed in real life for about 7 years now, and they had been in decline since the mid-90s anyway. They were riddled with informers and to a high degree controlled by Special Branch and MI5 anyway. Posted by: Young Fogey at October 5, 2005 09:50 AM The UDA in North Antrim and Londonderry have organised within their ranks a chapter of the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Posted by: Dualta at October 5, 2005 10:36 AM Dualta, If the brigade supported Combat 18, why would they erect Israeli flags in loyalist areas like the Fountain, which is under the geographical remit of the UDA's 1st Battalion, Londonderry, of the 7 Battalions in the Brigade. Neo-Nazis hate the Jewish people! I've also read reports that say Combat 18 stated on their website that they could no longer support Ulster Loyalism if they used "Zionist" symbols! Posted by: Concerned Loyalist at October 5, 2005 02:39 PM Concerned Loyalist, One only needs to flick through the pages of the Warrior magazine to see that the NALB hold deep-rooted racist beliefs. That said, I certainly have not arrived at these facts simply my flicking through Warrior. What is have posted here is based upon well established facts. Lastly, the Mexican himself is very open about his racist views, amongst his own, mind you. I am also led to believe that he has also expressed his deep annoyance at the flying of the Israeli flag in his brigade area. What I have posted here has been, to a large degree, in the national press and it was intriging to note that there was silence from those who would usually defend the NALB publically. Posted by: Dualta at October 5, 2005 04:24 PM Bit of a joke, these drug gangs trying to operate in 'brigade areas' etc... The Mexican, the 'bling' brigadeer, the 'bacardi' brigadeer Very militaristic !!! Pass the joint, sir ! Posted by: dandy at October 5, 2005 10:39 PM Dualta, I hate to disappoint you, but racism is not widespread within the UDA,and is the EXCEPTION rather than the rule... Posted by: Concerned Loyalist at October 18, 2005 04:12 PM Are you speaking on behalf of the UDA now CL? Posted by: circles at October 18, 2005 04:21 PM I read an article in the "Letters To Editor" section of "Warrior" last year in which a person described how they had watched the "Who You Calling A Nigger" documentary on Channel 4 last year, where he articulated the fact that he felt the racism betweeen Bangladeshi and African British shown in the programme was as bad as any between whites and blacks and felt it could develop into a situation like Northern Ireland between Protestants and Roman Catholics, unless the authorities took steps to stop it... That is the only article that I can remember that even touches on racial issues, and that was in the letters section, which doesn't reflect the views of the Editor anyway, as is clearly highlighted at the front of the magazine! Posted by: Concerned Loyalist at October 18, 2005 04:22 PM So what anout the summer 2002 edition with the Mexican and the burning cross? Posted by: circles at October 18, 2005 04:25 PM CL: "From what sources do you derive this misinformation? I am a Loyalist, not a racist, and the UDA as an organisation are not racist either. If there are members who believe in white supremacy that is a matter for them and although I don't agree with it, each individual has their own personal ideology." Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas, CL. the fact that they are tolerated within the organization at all is a reflection of the mores and beliefs of the UDA. Since Nationalist organizations are judged by their worst exponents, as you can see on other threads of this blog, why is it improper to judge the UDA (or any other Loyalist organization, for that matter), using the same methodology? Crimiinality within PIRA allows the painting of the organization as "the RAFIA", from pillar to post, but racist, thuggish UDA are simply "bad apples who do not reflect on the organization as a whole??" Posted by: Dread Cthulhu at October 18, 2005 04:26 PM Concerned Loylalist, If Mick is indeed kind enough, I'll even post a scanned picture of the KKK article and a copy of the ORIGINAL UDA klansman photograph. The North Antrim and Londonderry Brigade of the UDA is seeped in racism. It's up to its proverbial neck in it, as are many other Loyalist groupings in this sad excuse for a country.
