October 18, 2005 And then there were 3.. Meanwhile.. back at the ranch.. The Guardian's NewsBlog is live-blogging the first round of voting for the next leader of the Conservative Party. Love this note on the NewsBlog Ms Widdecombe had in fact been queueing patiently to cast her vote from 12.50pm and was first in line, but unfortunately was waiting at the wrong door. Oops. Of course someone less generous than I might be tempted to write… What have the Tories got to do with Northern Ireland Politics and Culture! :-) Posted by: smcgiff at October 18, 2005 02:38 PM Clarke's gone, and with him goes any chance of the Tories forming a government. Posted by: Christopher Stalford at October 18, 2005 02:48 PM Definitely a lost leader, heck, he was downright likeable, but probably too old. Sorry if that comes across as ageist. Posted by: smcgiff at October 18, 2005 03:06 PM If i lived on mainland Britain I would vote for David Cameron as an alternative to Blair or Brown if he was elected as Tory leader. He is young, dynamic and forward-thinking; the antithesis of Michael Howard and exactly what the Conservative Party need... Posted by: Concerned Loyalist at October 18, 2005 03:07 PM ‘If i lived on mainland Britain,’ Does one have to live in GB to be a member of the conservative party? Posted by: smcgiff at October 18, 2005 03:11 PM What have the Tories got to do with Northern Ireland Politics and Culture! Well they are a political party in Northern Ireland and they do contest elections here. Posted by: David Cather at October 18, 2005 03:16 PM If I didn't live in Ulster and my heart wasn't loyalist, then I would vote Conservative, but only if Cameron became leader- Davies and Fox aren't future Prime Ministers... Posted by: Concerned Loyalist at October 18, 2005 03:18 PM CL thats the thing you do not live in Britain, would you not be better turning your political energies to building a better Ireland? Posted by: J Kelly at October 18, 2005 03:20 PM J Kelly, Posted by: Concerned Loyalist at October 18, 2005 03:35 PM David, That was my attempt at Earth humour. Posted by: smcgiff at October 18, 2005 03:35 PM 'Tell me, why would I forsake the blue skies of Ulster for the Grey skies of the Irish Republic? In short, I would prefer to die on my feet than live on my knees in an Irish Republic...' Sure you shouldn't change from 'Concerned' to 'Paranoid Loyalist'? Posted by: smcgiff at October 18, 2005 03:57 PM "In short, I would prefer to die on my feet than live on my knees in an Irish Republic... How would living in a UI constitute 'living on your knees'? Posted by: Brian Boru at October 18, 2005 04:19 PM In short, I would prefer to die on my feet than live on my knees in an Irish Republic... Yikes! In all honestly CL, as good as nobody down here has the slightest interest in seeing you having to do either. Relax. Surely you don't think that we'ed all let the Shinner's end up running the show? Sure then we'ed all be on our knees. Posted by: Ringo at October 18, 2005 04:25 PM |
