September 02, 2005 Orangemen and Red Hand county head for Dublin It's another big day for Northern Irish GAA on Sunday. Sadly, it's only the semis this time, but Tyrone and Armagh meet to decide who's going to have it out with Kerry, arguably the Republic's one county capable of living with the pressure of playing these two dominant forces in the modern game of Gaelic football. Check out Balrog, if you're from the Orange side, and you want some good ole biased sports reporting on the game! I am at university in Texas and am flying home for the All Ireland final. I have already booked flights so I am confident of an Armagh win Posted by: David at September 2, 2005 08:24 PM It really does'nt matter who wins between Armagh or Tyrone. Sam Maguire will be returning to the Kingdom for another Year. Slainte Liam Keyes Boston Massachusetts. Posted by: Liam Keyes at September 3, 2005 12:26 AM Who ever wins tomorrow will lift Sam, Kerry haven't got a chance. There is only a kick of a ball between Armagh and Tyrone. Armagh by 1 point. Posted by: Chris Gaskin at September 3, 2005 10:23 AM It surely must confuse the tourists a wee bit -'Er no, those Orange flags were put up by nationalists, No, the red and white ones with the red hand are put up by nationalists as well.' Posted by: Tochais Síoraí at September 3, 2005 12:47 PM We're all Orange in Armagh ;) Posted by: Chris Gaskin at September 3, 2005 12:50 PM There's nothin between Tyrone and Armagh, just how they handle pressure... Tyrone argubly should have won both games earlier in the season, i'm tipping Tyrone unless the earlier matches have got to them mentally. Certainly an Ulster team to lift Sam!! Posted by: glensman at September 3, 2005 01:15 PM And here was me thinking this week's big sporting event was in Belfast.... ? :\ Posted by: beano at September 3, 2005 01:27 PM Hi, This is not in relation to this thread but some advice please. I am going to Omagh from the south tonite. I have been in the north years ago as a child this time it is for drinking and messing. Posted by: Packie at September 3, 2005 01:28 PM Tsk. Tsk. How typical - not a mention of the fabulous Down Minors already reaching their final last week. An Dún Abu. How very Armagh. Posted by: Groover at September 3, 2005 07:59 PM My Ulster loyalty only goes so far, Down are beyond the pale ;) Posted by: Chris Gaskin at September 3, 2005 08:18 PM Gaskin, you are as good at predicting GAA results as you are election results!! Posted by: bigwhitedove at September 3, 2005 09:20 PM P.S. Gaskin ur right about Down I would buy tickets to watch "Norn Iron" before I would support them lickspittles Posted by: bigwhitedove at September 3, 2005 09:23 PM Gaskin, you are as good at predicting GAA results as you are election results!! Typical belfast ones ;) If you check my blog you will see that I called the last Tyrone Armagh game 100% (Armagh by 2) I look forward to offering you humble pie tomorrow evening LOL Posted by: Chris Gaskin at September 3, 2005 09:46 PM Beano Two mediocre teams meeting in a borefest on a Saturday and England handing out a hiding on Wednesday in front of a combined crowd of less than half of Sunday's attendance really doesn't compare. Fair play to NI on today's result but by god, it was hard keeping awake at times. Posted by: PS at September 3, 2005 10:02 PM I'm going to work on the assumption that Gaskin is as good at predicting gaelic football as he is on elections. I was wondering what to do with the €21 in my Paddy Power account and I put it on Kerry. Potential winnings €34. Posted by: Keith M at September 4, 2005 10:28 AM To Chris and BWD: When you have won 5 titles you can talk on the same level as us lickspittles. Jealousy is a terrible thing. Posted by: Groover at September 4, 2005 02:26 PM Well done, Tyrone Bring on Kerry Posted by: rob at September 4, 2005 05:47 PM Comiserations to Armagh and congratulations to Tyrone. It looked like a very exciting game. Posted by: slug at September 4, 2005 06:14 PM Fantastic game apart from Armagh not winning. But either team today were fit to take on Kerry.. Keep up the momentum Tyrone and bring Sam back north... Ard Mhacha Abu. We'll be back. Posted by: P Ring at September 4, 2005 08:41 PM So is that Armagh out now, or is there ANOTHER back door route next weekend or the weekend after? Posted by: GavBelfast at September 5, 2005 09:42 PM No, thats it finished for the valiant Orchardmen, thankfully for this Red Hand supporter! It was a great game and wouldn't have happened without the back door. I think its a brilliant idea, it was brought in so amateur players who trained hard all year in conjunction with their employment could get more than one game out of the championship, and so Fermanagh people could further south than Cavan! Great people that they are... Posted by: cladycowboy at September 5, 2005 09:50 PM Fermanagh All Ireland quarter finalists 2003 I don't recall Armagh or Tyrone reaching the semi's last season. Posted by: roddy at September 5, 2005 10:13 PM What have Fermanagh ever won, trophy wise? Posted by: Chris Gaskin at September 5, 2005 10:25 PM 'Fermanagh All Ireland quarter finalists 2003 I don't recall Armagh or Tyrone reaching the semi's last season.' Whoa! I was only joking! Fermanagh did incredibly well in those two years, especially from a little populated county. I was cheering them all the way in 2004. The youngsters played brilliantly. Still, i can understand why Tyrone was overlooked in favour of Enniskillen for the hospital in our region, the amount of 'hospital balls' played by Fermanagh players would keep the place filled ;) Posted by: cladycowboy at September 23, 2005 01:31 AM |
