As political editors go, MD sems to play it pretty safe. I find his style of editorial more like that of a correspondent, telling people what they have already heard on the news at breakfast. e.g.

Some sense of what republicans might have been talking to the governments about was provided when Martin McGuinness told the BBC that if the DUP fails to respond positively to a fresh IRA initiative then London and Dublin must press forward with all-Ireland co-operation.

More than once I have found MD to have a biased slant on his reporting. Not necessarily to any one side, but rather to the popular opinion. I know many might ask, what’s the problem with that? To which I would reply that I for one, preferred it when reporters reported fact, not jaded with their own opinion. I think the beeb can do better.

Don't get me started about Bertie Ahern and the English Language. The only time Ive been genuinely ashamed to be Irish was when, standing beside George Bush and addressing the World's media, Bertie decided to express his concern about what was going on in "Guatahama Bay".

Interesting point are there any political commentators etc such as Mike Nesbitt or Noel Thompson whom may support one of the politcal parties in NI.

The guys just filling column inches and picking up his wages at the door. Load of waffle. Never mind the politicians waiting for Godot, it's the political correspondants who's pens are drying up from what I can see.
