A very excitable Charlie Bird of RTE is running with a statement just released by the IRA's P. O'Neill. Just caught the tail end of it but in essence it goes something like this:

The IRA has declared that it has disassociated itself from what it describes as "...those lying, thieving scum, Sinn Fein.." P. O'Neill has accused the Shinners of bringing republicanism into disrepute and sullying the good name of the IRA.
Gerry Adams, speaking from his book tour of Spain (where he has been introducing himself as Oscar Wilde's grandson and Beckett's nephew) has welcomed the statement, and denied that he was ever a member of Sinn Fein.

Martin McGuinness has just re-acted to the latest P. O'Neill statement. Speaking from a bunker in Sligo he too welcomed the statement and said: "I have always said that Sinn Fein have nothing whatsoever of a constructive nature to offer to the peace process. We, the true republicans, will not be deflected by these people from pursuing a peaceful democratic settlement in Ireland. Sinn Fein should just pack up their bags and go home. They're yesterday's men - and women"

Gerry Kelly, speaking to reporters in Belfast, simply said: "Where the f... does that leave me."

So already, out of seven, then there were five. Of the five, one alleged dissident has been charged with IRA membership (note nothing to do with money laundering).

It looks already that everything will come down to the financier and his partner and what can be nailed on them. Unless there is an IRA charge for the ex councillor.

Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness have just released a joint statement. They are claiming that the only Gerry Kelly they know is a big bearded guy who has a show on UTV on a Friday night. They dismissed claims to the contrary as being part of a complex securocrat plot.
Angry crowds are already beginning to gather outside the home of a big skinny guy in North Belfast who had claimed earlier to be a comrade of adams and McGuinness's. A 15-year-old girl who came to the door claimed the big skinny guy was unavailable for comment.

Newsline and UTV Live are well worth watching tonight on the web. UTV left the camera running after the interview and McGuinness joked about not answering a certain question. On the BBC he denied knowing Hanlon, then the Beeb showed pics of the two chatting.

It made SF look very silly.

Reports are coming in that a big skinny guy and his partner of many years have fled their home in North Belfast. Former friends have quoted the big skinny guy as saying they were travelling to, "...anywhere but Bolton."

Meanwhile, the PSNI are appealing for a 15-year-old Belfast girl who has been missing from her home since early this afternoon to contact her parents as soon as possible.

So at this juncture on one person charged with being in the Real IRA has been charged.

Furthermore, the only money linked to the bank robbery thus far, has been found at the RUC country club the Newforge Country Club.
