Laundered money, but not from the heist
The cat and mouse game begins. The PSNI have rounded up several lots of laundered money - none of which relate to the Northern Bank heist. This could be a very long wait - especially if the robbers decide to dump the tracable bills and stick with the used Bank of England and Euro notes! Night all!

of course it's entirely impossible that these NB £100 bills are part of the money grabbed in the heist (of which the serial numbers of only a few million are known) because those arrested aren't republican.

Something is rotton in the state of Denmark.

Isn't it strange that when all the evidence is pointing towards loyalists in cahoots with RUC/MI5 - suspect notes passed in Dundonald and now Craigavon - that the RUC Mk 2 are promptly dismissing any link to the Northern Bank robbery.
Is the claim advanced on Friday by Orde already coming apart at the seams - was it ever sewn up properly? The RUC of old wouldn't have taken such chances when framing people for the wrongdoing of others... no standards have definitely fallen...

Yes, Oliver, the police are lying.

willowfield

Consider the reaction if the money was turning up in republican areas. Do you think the PSNI would be saying it had nothing to do with the robbery?

Posted by: Henry94 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 09:50 AM

And since when is Craigavaon exclusively loyalist OC? There's Shankill, Edward Street and Kilwilkie in Lurgan not to mention certain famous republican areas in Portadown. 0/10

Posted by: Davros [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 09:58 AM

that is true davros, except the bbc report that the two men were arrested and business premisis were raided in Banbridge. Not exclusively unionist/loyalist but it does seem to be narrowing down a bit.

Fraggle, I won't have a problem if people like OC are honest in their postings. It's ok for people from NI who read that nonsense about Dundonald and craigavon - since when was the Ice Bowl loyalist-only , even allowing for the disgraceful sectarian incident last year ? We can think - that's rubbish. But an awful lot of people visiting here don't know about the mosaicisation of areas like Lurgan and Portadown and will be misled.

"Yes, Oliver, the police are lying."

That would be a real shock......

Donnie I hope you are not suggesting that the police would lie

Posted by: J Kelly [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 10:54 AM

J Kelly, it was Willowfield that suggested it!

If the robbers have any sense they will have burned all the new Northern Bank notes with traceable serial numbers long ago. There seems to be quite enough used Northern bank and other Ulster sterling notes along with Bank of Englnd sterling notes and Euro`s to go round.

We can rest assured Davros that if there were a republican connection, the people alleged to have been involved would not have been released on police bail.

I think your accusation of dishonest postings is a little hypocritical to say the least given my reading of your own contributions to debate here.

Posted by: Oilbhéar Chromaill [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 11:15 AM

OC- would you care to defend your implication that Craigavon is Loyalist ?

Posted by: Davros [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 11:30 AM

"Craigavon is a mainly loyalist area." according to the Indo story on the 2 arrests.

Yikes maca :) try walking around those areas in Lurgan I mentioned in a Rangers shirt and see what happens ;)

Posted by: Davros [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 11:42 AM

And what would I be doing with a Rangers shirt? ;))

Posted by: maca [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 11:48 AM

LOL - I might send you one for your Birthday present ;)

Posted by: Davros [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 11, 2005 11:52 AM

Note for self: Do NOT give Davros your address.
;-))

Or "note to self" even, my minds on 10 different things here!

Henry94

That would depend on whether it had anything to do with the robbery. If so, then, yes, they would say so. If not, then they would say it had nothing to do with the robbery.

willowfield

I doubt you even believe that yourself.
