Slugger coming back to health...
Finally we are coming back to something approaching normality. As someone put it just before the London server went down Slugger was as unsettled as Wayne Rooney just before he joined Man U. Well Wayne has made his move and so has Slugger. We are now hosted on a nice new Unix server somewhere in New York.

You'll notice that we are currently without our archives. This was a first casulty in the crash. We do have records of them, but they are not in a form that allows us to reinstate them either quickly or cheaply. We hope to add these as and when we have the opportunity.

There are still some hiccups around the commenting system which are keen to clear up to everyone's satisfaction. If you come across anything strange or unusual let myself of Abi know about it and we'll do our best to sort it out asap.

In any case welcome back to the Real Slugger O'Toole. Thanks for bearing with us during the interregnum. As we head (metaphorically) towards the Leeds Castle negotiations, we hope to keep you up to date with the latest developments.

Just wanted to wish Slugger every best wish on the new server.

The comment about Slugger being as unsettled as Wayne Rooney was by yours truly!

Well YI, here's hoping the New Slugger is more successful that young Bonker's new club has been recently :)

p.s. see those Google ads on the left? They rely simply on clicks to generate income so 1-2 clicks per day would help to pay for this new server*

*really they'll use the money to pay for a 'craic' squad to take out the buggers who invented typekey.

p.p.s Mick the pages are caching, can Abi add back in the meta tag to prevent caching? It seems to have disappeared when you switched server.

Something odd here. I usually use Safari as my default browser, but can't seem to be able to register with Typekey. I put in my name and password, it goes back to the page from whence I came, but still has me down as "not signed in". Try again, and it just reloads the current page. It works fine on Mozilla, but as I use Safari 99% of the time, it's a pain to have to switch browsers.

Any other users (especially Mac OS X users) with similar experiences?

Otherwise, delighted to see Slugger back up. There's only so much Web Tangling I can take!

I'm using safari and it's working fine. better than ever in fact.

Typekey is working well !
My only problem is that @ and " have changed places when I try and use them in this box ( and at Maca's site) yet work fine on Word documents.

and many thanks Maca for showing me the answer!

Gerry ... could it simply be your cookie settings in Safari? If it's your default browser you have likely done some 'settings tweaking'.

Firefox | Camino (Mac OS X)

Gerry - check some of the extensions for Firefox, in particular Mouse Gestures and some of the other navigation extensions.

FF has just been upgraded so not all of the extensions/themes are ready for this new version yet. Some of the older extensions are really worth installing so hopefully they will also be upgraded soon.
